A Note from the New Chairman:

Dear Spiders & Friends: I must firstly apologise for the delay in getting this information to you. Having had the original date of the AGM put back, due to the inclement weather, Pam and I moving house and all that goes with that, decorating etc., time has been catching up on me and eventually it overtook me! I can report that we have had two committee meetings so far this year, since the AGM and again, I must apologise for not letting you the members know what is going on. For those that missed the AGM, and there were a few, I was duly elected Chairman for the coming year, as there were no other takers! As there was a poor
attendance at the AGM, the position of Vice Chairman was left to be filled in committee, which I am pleased to announce that Luke Taylor was proposed and seconded and your committee unanimously voted him in. Please find the 2010 Committee on the Membership page of the website.
I must take this opportunity, as I failed to do it at the AGM, to thank our outgoing chairperson, Toni Kemeny, for all the hard work she put during her term of office and for all the work behind the scenes. May I also take this opportunity to thank Bill and Caroline Stuart for all their hard work during 2009, particularly during the “Twist in the Tales” production. I know they are both looking forward to a little rest this year, but we all know they are there if we need them. Thanks Bill and Caroline!
On a sad note I have to inform you that due to University commitments in Oxford and an imminent house move, Rosa Watkinson has had to give up her role as Editor of The Web and also her position on committee. I don’t really need to remind anyone how valuable a member of RSC Rosa has been and that she has been one of our most leading of ladies!! She has performed so many successful roles and who will ever forget her role as Toad? We wish her every success for the future.
Finally, as I have reported, your committee has sat twice so far this year and I will do my utmost to keep them in check. However, it is an arduous task but someone has to do it and I will do my best.
My kindest regards,
Mike Ingham..

THE ENCHANTED KIPPER, Friday 4th June 2010, @ the Victory Hall, 7-00pm:
A fun evening for all Spiders and friends, not to be missed!!! This will be a bring and share food evening, with wine and soft drinks available. Please contact Alan (01837 871267) or Mike (01566 784824) with your intention to attend, what to wear? and of course what you can bring to eat. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible.

NB. The above evening has been planned to replace what we had hoped to be a Francis Durbridge thriller.
Unfortunately, we were unable to cast all the parts. However, it will be put in store for a future date, when more actors and actresses are available.

November 18th, 19th & 20th, “Hollywood Comes to West Devon”:
This is a comedy being written as we speak, with the above as a working title. This has been written for Bratton Clovelly, as requested by Graham England and his Bratton Hall committee, to christen the new stage they have just purchased. Whilst
most of the parts will be taken by Spiders, we are hoping to involve one or two Bratton villagers, with a view to attracting them to the RSC fold.

Play Readings:
These will commence as soon as possible. We have our 3rd committee meeting of the year on Friday May 7th, so hopefully a decision can be made then and I can report back to you.

A Twist in the Tales:
Despite rather poor attendances on our three nights, we have had good feedback from those that did attend. Also, from a financial point of view, they were reasonably successful. I am pleased to report that as mentioned in the programme, the Thursday night performance was a charity night and that I was able to present a cheque for £150 to Carol Jones the Exeter representative of the Charity Cruse. We have subsequently received a letter of thanks from the Exeter Office of Cruse. Well done to everyone for making Thursday evening our most successful.

A membership form can be downloaded by clicking here; we would be pleased if all those who would like to become members would fill this in and return it to Bill Stuart. We are very pleased that many have already done so.
