“What are all those cars doing outside the village hall in Lewdown on a Saturday afternoon?”
“I’m not sure, but I think its something to do with Red Spider Company and a theatre workshop which they have organised for anyone interested in taking a look at theatrical goings on”. “ZIP, ZAP, BOING!”
“What on earth was that?” “Let’s go and have a look through the door – ooh, there are a lot of people all standing in a circle and they seem to be throwing an imaginary ball about between them. I suppose it is some kind of exercise to mirror the exchanges of dialogue on a theatre stage. Oh look! Now they are all walking about in different directions imitating weird ways of walking. I just heard someone say – I suppose it is their leader – the right way to play a drunk on stage is to imagine that you have just had 5 double brandies but are trying to show that you are perfectly sober. How interesting! That sounds like a lot of fun to me!”.
“There’s a poster on that notice board over there. Another workshop is to be held in Bratton Clovelly Parish Hall on 27 October at 2.30pm. Why don’t we go along? There seems to be plenty of opportunity to be physically active, participate in interactive exercises and confront the challenges of being on a stage. And that fellow who is leading things is inventive and has plenty of ideas. It says on the poster that we could even bring the children along too.”
“Check your diary, find someone to look after the dog, I’ll do the same, and let me know how you are placed. It might be fun to go along on 27 October which is a Sunday. Remember, its at 2.30pm in Bratton Clovelly Parish Hall. Give me a ring and we’ll see if we can go along”.
